Rosewood Opens a Hotel in Japan's Only 'Blue Zone' (Travel + Leisure): Rosewood’s newest luxury resort has opened on the beaches of Miyakojima in Okinawa. With just 55 villas, a serene spa, and a focus on privacy, it’s an ideal hideaway for travelers seeking a slower, more intimate (and beachy) side of Japan.
One&Only is Coming to New York’s Hudson Valley (Travel Weekly): The luxury brand One&Only has announced its first U.S. nature resort, set to open in 2028, next to the Culinary Institute of America’s campus. Expect a culinary partnership with the institute, private villas, a world-class spa by Clinique La Prairie, and stunning views, just a short drive from New York City.
The luxury hotel bubble may be reaching a tipping point (Jing Daily): An interesting take on the seemingly endless surge in new luxury hotel developments worldwide (see above headlines)— but at what point will supply outpace demand? As brands chase wealthy travelers, concerns are growing that the industry may face oversupply issues, leading to more competitive pricing and potential challenges ahead.
José Andrés Brings a D.C. Favorite to Hudson Yards (TimeOut): More than 20 years since opening Oyamel in Washington D.C., Andres brings the beloved Mexican restaurant to New York City. Just having opened at 10 Hudson Yards this week, the sprawling space is 15,000 square feet and designed by Rockwell Group.
LAX’s New Metro Station Will Make Airport Travel Easier (The Points Guy): Big news for L.A. travelers: the long-awaited LAX/Metro Transit Center station is set to open in June, as part of the $30B revamp ahead of the 2028 Olympics. It will connect the airport to downtown L.A. and Long Beach.
Amtrak Launches New Gulf Coast Routes (Amtrak): After a 30 year hiatus, Amtrak will relaunch a twice-daily service between New Orleans and Mobile, Alabama. Aptly named the Mardi Gras service, it kicks off in June and marks a major win for restoring Gulf Coast rail travel.
