Hi friends! We’re back after some amazing travels that we can’t wait to share with you. Read on for our mini guide to Marrakech and recent headlines that have caught our attention. Hope everyone enjoys some traveling this summer, whether near or far.
Mini Guide: Marrakech
Perfect for: Design lovers, adventurous foodies, culture seekers, and spa enthusiasts
Marrakech is a feast for the senses—earth-toned architecture, intricate tilework, aromatic souks, and the hum of daily life spilling out of riads and cafés. This vibrant Moroccan city offers a stunning blend of North African, Arab, Berber, and French influences, all set against the backdrop of the Atlas Mountains.
It’s chaotic in the best way—perfect for travelers who like a little adventure with their luxury. Get lost in the medina, relax at a rooftop bar overlooking the city, or retreat to a peaceful hammam after a day of exploring.
Best Time to Visit: March–May or September–November
Spring and fall offer the most comfortable temperatures, especially if you're walking the medina or venturing into the desert. Summer can be brutally hot, while winter nights get chilly despite sunny days.
We went in late May and enjoyed warm days with dry heat and relief in the shade, while evenings were perfectly comfortable and breezy.
Budget Meter: $$ = affordable but can always splurge
Marrakech is doable for a range of budgets. You can stay in beautifully restored riads for a very affordable price and local feel or go ultra-luxe at some iconic properties. You don’t need to break the bank to eat tasty local fare, while fine dining options abound for special splurges.
Sustainability: Semi-Green
There’s growing momentum around sustainability measures in Morocco, with some riads and hotels leading the charge using solar energy, water recycling, and organic sourcing. However, waste management and water scarcity remain issues, especially during peak tourism.
Getting There:
Marrakech Menara Airport (RAK) is well-connected to major European cities with frequent direct flights from hubs like Paris, Madrid, and London. From the U.S., it’s easiest to connect via Europe. Once in Marrakech, taxis are common but negotiate the fare in advance—or opt for a private driver for day trips that can be arranged through your hotel.
Making Headlines
Michelin Guide Expands to Philadelphia (Eater): Philadelphia is officially joining the Michelin Guide, giving its top restaurants the chance to earn stars for the first time. The move puts Philly on the culinary map alongside cities like New York and Chicago and highlights the city’s growing dining scene. Full selections are expected later this fall.
Rome’s Fiumicino Airport Opens Luxury Dog Hotel (AeroTime): Rome just became even more pet-friendly with the opening of Dog Relais, a luxury dog hotel at Fiumicino Airport. The launch comes as Italy eases restrictions to allow medium and large dogs in the aircraft cabin, and offers perks like aromatherapy, spa services, and grooming.
Hilton and McLaren Debut F1-Themed Suite in London (The Sun): Hilton has teamed up with McLaren to launch a Formula 1–themed suite in London’s Trafalgar St. James Hotel. Available for a limited time during the British Grand Prix in July, the suite includes racing simulators, track-style decor, and daily wellness perks—perfect for fans wanting to live the F1 lifestyle.
Dublin Hotel Boom Just in Time for Summer Events (The Times): Dublin is racing to meet demand with a wave of new hotel openings this summer. With major concerts and sports events drawing visitors, the city’s hospitality sector is expanding fast—though rooms are still filling quickly, signaling continued growth ahead.
