Chef Kwame Onwuachi to Open Las Lap in South Beach (Miami New Times): Award-winning chef Kwame Onwuachi is set to open his first restaurant in Miami, a second outpost of Las Lap— a West Indian rum bar and restaurant from NYC’s Lower East Side. Slated for a June opening at The Daydrift hotel (former Lifehouse hotel), it will have a tropical take on Chef Kwame’s signature flavors, with a rooftop as well.
Raffles to Open Luxury Resort in Los Cabos (Travel Weekly): Raffles has announced it’s developing the Estera East Cape Resort & Residences, a luxury property slated to open in 2029 between San Jose del Cabo and Los Barriles. The resort will feature 80 guestrooms and 46 residences, offering guests a serene beachfront escape.
Wes Anderson Retrospective Coming to London's Design Museum (Wallpaper): Fans of Wes Anderson should mark their calendars for "Wes Anderson: The Archives," an exhibition opening in November 2025 at London's Design Museum. The retrospective will showcase over 600 props, models, and costumes from Anderson's films, providing an immersive look into his distinctive cinematic style.
North America's 50 Best Bars 2025 Announced (50 Best): The fourth edition of North America's 50 Best Bars has been revealed, highlighting exceptional cocktail venues across the continent. Handshake Speakeasy in Mexico City retains its No.1 spot, with Miami holding down the No.13 spot for Cafe La Trova, plus a few other Miami spots that made the top 51-100 list.
Francis Ford Coppola Opens a Hotel for Cinephiles (The Hollywood Reporter): Renowned filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola has released his latest venture, a Days Inn hotel that has been fully transformed into a 27-room boutique hotel and production facility for both movie lovers and actual movie makers. Located 45 minutes outside of Atlanta, the All-Movie Hotel is features uniquely themed rooms and amenities inspired by Coppola's films (including a screening room and green room), for movie enthusiasts starting at $180 per night.
Newark Airport Faces Air Traffic Control Crisis (CNN): Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) has experienced multiple radar and communication outages in recent weeks, raising safety concerns. Experts attribute the issues to outdated infrastructure and staffing shortages, prompting the FAA to announce plans for a comprehensive modernization of the air traffic control system. Basically, just avoid Newark’s airport this summer if you can.
